Patrick Vuong

Patrick Vuong is a frequent contributor to Black Belt and wrote the magazine’s monthly movie-review column, Screen Shots, for almost a decade.
 
As a journalist, Vuong has been writing film criticism since his late teens. His list of celebrity interviews include Jet Li and Tom Cruise. He earned his journalism degree from California State University, Fullerton.
 
As a filmmaker, he is an optioned screenwriter and has been a script consultant for various filmmakers and production companies, including Figaro Pictures.
 
As a stuntman, Vuong specializes in fights, hits and reactions, and martial arts combat. Most recently, he had a stunt-acting role as a boxer in The Haymaker.
 
As a martial arts trainer, Vuong holds black belts in lai chung chuan fa and kenpo. He has studied the fighting arts since 1995, with experience in aikido, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, German long sword, jeet kune do, kali, kickboxing, Kuntao Silat de Thouars, pentjak silat and wing chun.
 
Born and raised in Canada, Vuong is now based in Southern California.
