Bruce Lee Foundation Celebrates Jeet Kune Do's 40th Anniversary

The Bruce Lee Foundation will be hosting an Official Bruce Lee Foundation Dinner and Seminar on October 27, 2007 and October 28, 2007 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bruce Lee's coining of the term jeet kune do.

The festivities will kick off on Saturday, October 27, 2007 with seminars from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the National Wushu Training Center, 1164 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90019. [For more information, call (323) 932-9888.]

Later that night, all are invited to attend a dinner at 7 p.m. in Chinatown at The Golden Dragon Restaurant, located at 960 North Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012. [For more information, call (213) 626-2039.]

The night will include several special guests, a presentation by Shannon Lee regarding the exciting future plans for the Bruce Lee Foundation, a question-and-answer session with Linda Lee Cadwell and Shannon Lee, raffles for special prizes, a display of Bruce Lee memorabilia, a traditional Chinese dinner, and much more. 

Sunday, October 28, 2007, seminars will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Wushu Training Center. Bruce Lee Foundation Advisory Members who have already committed to teaching include Ted Wong, Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer, Tommy Gong, Greg Smith, Gary Cangaanon, Mario Magdangal and Allen Magdangal.  Also scheduled is a brief presentation by Advisory Member George Lee about the magnificent equipment he custom built to Bruce Lee's specifications.

SEMINAR BY SPECIAL GUEST!
 
The Bruce Lee Foundation recently announced that Bruce Lee's sister, Phoebe Lee, will be doing a tai chi chuan exhibition as taught to her by her father, Lee Hoi Chuen. Phoebe will also take questions regarding the exhibition and Bruce Lee's interest in and knowledge of tai chi chuan.
 
MEMORABILIA EXHIBIT CELEBRATES BRUCE LEE IN THE YEAR 1967
 
The Bruce Lee Foundation has arranged to display a memorabilia exhibit containing several writings, images and other items from 1967—the year that Bruce Lee coined the term jeet kune do.  The memorabilia exhibit will only be on display during the Bruce Lee Foundation banquet at The Golden Dragon restaurant on October 27, 2007, so make sure not to miss this rare opportunity.

SCHEDULE CHANGE
 
Everyone attending the seminars please note there has been a schedule change for Saturday. Ted Wong will do his seminar from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. instead of 12 to 2. From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Oakland veterans Alan Magdangal, Mario Magdangal and Gary Cagaanan will teach.
 
TRAINING EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
 
Everyone who is attending the seminars will be responsible for bringing their own training equipment. Please bring focus mitts, headgear, gloves, kicking shields if you have them, and any necessary protective gear you may have.
 
VIDEOTAPING
 
Please note that personal videotaping will not be allowed during the event at any time. The Bruce Lee Foundation will be taping the event for its own archival and instructional purposes. Anyone seen videotaping will be asked to stop. Upon a second warning you will be asked to turn over your camera until the end of the event. The Bruce Lee Foundation, however, encourages you to take notes at any time throughout the days.
 
PARKING     
 
On site parking at the National Wushu Training Center is limited. However, there is plenty of parking in the residential neighborhood surrounding the school. The school is located at the intersection of La Brea and Edgewood. Turn east on Edgewood and park in the neighborhood directly behind the school on Citrus and the surrounding streets.
 
BLF MERCHANDISE
 
As mentioned previously, there will be Bruce Lee Foundation merchandise as well as some other Bruce Lee-related merchandise for sale at the seminars on Saturday and Sunday. Anyone wishing to purchase merchandise can visit the seminars on Saturday and Sunday even if you are not participating in the seminars themselves. The merchandise will NOT be available at the banquet! Only raffle tickets and Bruce Lee photos will be for sale at the banquet.
 
RAFFLE PRIZES
 
Everyone attending the banquet gets a raffle ticket with entry. Extra tickets are readily available for purchase at the event. Prizes to be raffled at the banquet on Saturday night include:.
