is a professor of exercise, sport and health education at Radford University in Virginia where he has directed the martial arts program since 1973. He holds a doctorate in education administration.

As a martial artist, Beasley is a black belt in karate, taekwondo, hapkido, jujutsu and kickboxing. He has earned black belts from several Black Belt Hall of Fame members, including Joe Lewis, Michael DePasquale Sr. and Wally Jay. In 2000, Beasley was also inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year.

In 1978, Beasley developed the American Independent Karate Instructors Association, which celebrated its 30th year in business in 2007. The association has certified more than 1,500 black-belt instructors. The organization’s success led Beasley to develop the nation’s premier martial arts training camp. Known simply as Karate College, the camp continues to attract martial arts enthusiasts, celebrities and instructors every year. It was recognized in 2008 with the Black Belt Industry Award for “Best Seminar/Training Camp.”

As a writer, Beasley has published more than 100 articles in popular martial arts journals. He is the author of eight books, including Mastering Karate (2002) and The Jeet Kune Do Experience (2001). He worked with Black Belt Books on his latest project, Dojo Dynamics.
