Black Belt author William Cheung—often referred to as the “Master’s Master”—is the grandmaster of wing chun kung fu, a doctor of Chinese medicine and the creator of a healing program called Cheung's Meridian Therapy. Cheung is the recipient of Hall of Fame awards from Inside Kung Fu magazine and Black Belt, as well as the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award from Australia’s Blitz magazine. He was famously responsible for introducing Bruce Lee to wing chun, and he taught and trained with Lee in the late 1950s in Hong Kong. Throughout the four and a half years they trained together, the two men developed a close friendship.

In the late 1970s, Cheung was employed as chief instructor for the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet in Yugosuka, Japan, and during the following three years, he created many useful combat programs for the Marines and Navy SEALs. It has always been Cheung’s ambition to put real-life combat situations back in the martial arts, and he continues to develop practical programs related to close-quarters combat and survival-stress management for combat personnel and special-operations groups. He also trains martial arts champions around the world in various disciplines. With more than 55 years of experience in wing chun, Cheung continues to pass his knowledge on to the public through books, instructional DVDs and seminars.

Cheung collaborated with Black Belt Magazine Video to produce Grandmaster Cheung's Wing Chun Kung Fu and a DVD series titled Street Fighting Applications of Wing Chun. He also worked with Black Belt Books to write Wing Chun: Advanced Training and Applications.
