Black Belt contributor Michael Janich is the founder and lead instructor of Martial Blade Concepts, Counter-Blade Concepts and Damithurt Silat systems of personal defense. A former intelligence officer and POW/MIA recovery specialist, Janich is an acknowledged expert in all aspects of practical armed and unarmed defensive tactics. He has also written numerous books and instructional videos and co-authored Bullseyes Don’t Shoot Back, a definitive guide to handgun point shooting with one of his mentors, close-combat legend Col. Rex Applegate. One of the most experienced videographers and editors in the personal-protection video field, Janich was personally responsible for the production of best-selling videos featuring Kelly McCann, Mark Hatmaker, James Keating and many others.
