Kung Fu Videos
Though China has produced hundreds of kung fu styles, the kung fu videos section focuses on two of the more important: wing chun, and Shaolin kung fu.
In a stunning five-DVD set, William Cheung, Bruce Lee’s training partner and inheritor of traditional wing chun from the renowned Ip Man, reveals his knowledge of three forms, reflex training, chi sao (sticking hand) skills, wooden-dummy drills, butterfly-sword and pole forms, fighting strategies, grappling, weapon defense and an introduction to dim mak (death touch). In a second series of videos, William Cheung shares, via re-enactment, how he used wing chun to protect himself in real-life street fights.
Continuing with the wing chun spirit, Eric Oram, senior instructor under William Cheung, shows wing chun’s pak sao blocks against jabs, defense against jabs and rear hooks, attacks against the weapon arm and takedown counters.
The Shaolin kung fu entry takes the shape of two sets of exclusive DVDs in which Steve DeMasco, author of An American’s Journey to the Shaolin Temple, demonstrates Shaolin’s empty-hand self-defense tactics in street situations and teaches authentic Shaolin chuan fa.
