Daniel Middleton |
Black Belt contributor Dr. Daniel A. Middleton is a chiropractor and martial artist who has practiced the Korean martial art of kuk sool won for more than 30 years. He first began his training in 1973 in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the southern Chinese system of li gar, but it was while attending college at the University of South Carolina that he was first introduced, in 1976, to kuk sool won (along with the Chinese martial art tien shan pai) by Gene Gause and, through him, to the founder and grandmaster of kuk sool won, Suh In-hyuk. Middleton currently holds the rank of sixth dan in kuk sool won and has been teaching the art in South Carolina for more than 25 years. In addition to teaching kuk sool won, he also conducts self-defense workshops and seminars for area schools and industries.
