On January 30, 2010, Darren Levine and his staff, students and guests celebrated the grand opening of the new Krav Maga Worldwide Training Center in West Los Angeles, which had moved one block to a larger space. The move represents a major expansion of the main hub for Krav Maga Worldwide's corporate-owned training facilities.

The 10,000-square-foot  center has four spacious training rooms, new amenities and new equipment. The new schedule has also expanded to include more than 25 additional classes. The building housing the new center allows two hours of free parking (which is definitely not a given in bustling West Los Angeles), bigger locker rooms, additional showers and more with no change in monthly rates for students.

Opening-day events included a krav maga seminar for all levels with chief instructor Darren Levine, an open house and special event, krav maga classes for levels 1 through 3, an intro to krav maga for newcomers and an intro to CrossFit, a strength-and-conditioning program for soldiers, civilians and law-enforcement agents.

The place was packed when I arrived shortly after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the seminar led by Levine was full of students eager to glean fresh nuggets of no-nonsense wisdom from the master himself.

Black Belt congratulates Mr. Levine and Krav Maga Worldwide for this successful upgrade, a promising sign of the public interest in practical self-defense.
