Michael Janich—martial artist, knife-fighting expert, knife designer, shooting instructor, developer of Martial Blade Concepts and co-host of The Best Defense on Outdoor Channel—recently visited Black Belt to shoot photos for an upcoming cover article on knife defense. Gary Goltz, founder of Goltz Judo Club and the chief operating officer of the U.S. Judo Association, stopped in to discuss some business and shoot a technique article on judo foot sweeps for an upcoming issue of the magazine. In tow he had two students, Gavin Purdy and his young stepbrother Joseph Camacho. Videos featuring all three of these talented guys will be online soon. Goltz has been a big fan of Black Belt for many years... and he shared some thoughts about the magazine's roots as the primary source for judo coverage "back in the day."
