Patrick Vuong writes Black Belt's Screen Shots column, a monthly review of movies and video games. He is a freelance journalist, screenwriter, screen fighter and martial artist based in Orange County, California.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Canada, Vuong earned a journalism degree from California State University, Fullerton, and has been writing film criticism since his late teens. His list of celebrity interviews include Jet Li and Tom Cruise.

Vuong holds a black sash in lai chung chuan fa and a black belt in kenpo karate. He's formally studied tai chi chuan and northern Shaolin chuan fa. This martial arts junkie also has dabbled in aikido, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, jeet kune do, kali, kickboxing, kuntao silat, pentjak silat and wing chun.

Vuong directed, co-wrote and choreographed the fight scenes for a short movie, Remember Me.
