Robert H. Boatman has an extensive background in firearms marksmanship, combat and self-defense training, undercover law enforcement, armed VIP protection, and international-level competitive shooting with rifles and handguns. Boatman has studied the Chinese martial arts since childhood and has trained for several years with Mikel Steenrod of the Water Mountain Martial Society in Flagstaff, Arizona, with an emphasis on qigong and Taoist practices.

Boatman is the author of five best-selling firearms books published by Paladin Press, and he has published more than 100 feature articles in national magazines. He is a former newspaper managing editor, magazine editor-in-chief, communications director for a U.S. congressman and an advertising agency creative director.
