Ninja & Ninjutsu Training Books and DVDs

Ninjutsu refers to the art practiced by Japan’s ninja warriors. During the 13th to 17th century, warlords would hire ninja to spy on or assassinate other warlords. Historically, ninja were adept at concealment, horsemanship, setting explosives and using poison, but modern practitioners rarely, if ever, focus on such skills now. Unlike other empty-hand systems, ninjutsu does emphasize weapons, such as the sword, dagger, darts and shuriken (throwing stars). The art also does include linear and circular empty-hand techniques, which are collectively known as taijutsu. In the 1970s and 1980s, martial artists like Ronald Duncan, Stephen K. Hayes and Masaaki Hatsumi brought the real art back into the public eye.
