Ahead of UFC 300: The Rise and Reign of the BMF Title

UFC BMF Title

Black Belt Plus

In the world of UFC, surprises come in various forms, and Nate Diaz, the charismatic fighter from Stockton, California, knows exactly how to deliver them. Following his victory over Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, Diaz, never one to mince words, threw down a new challenge. He claimed the title of the "baddest mother****er in the game" and expressed his desire to defend this honor against Jorge Masvidal. Thus, the legend of the BMF title was born.

This unique title has seen action in the Octagon only twice since its inception, with the first battle commencing in November 2019. As we approach the third showdown for the BMF belt at UFC 300, where Justin Gaethje defends his title against the former featherweight champion Max Holloway, it's the perfect time to revisit the electrifying encounters that have defined the BMF legacy.

The Inaugural UFC BMF Title: Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal (UFC 244)

The first chapter of the BMF story unfolded in the iconic Madison Square Garden, with Diaz and Masvidal as the protagonists of this historic event. Adding to the spectacle, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson presented the newly created BMF belt, setting the stage for a memorable clash. Masvidal, riding high on a knockout spree, unleashed a barrage of attacks that had Diaz on the ropes. Yet, Diaz's resilience and relentless trash talk kept the fight competitive until a cut above his eye led to a doctor's stoppage. Despite the abrupt end, Masvidal's victory was a testament to his incredible year, celebrated with the BMF title ceremoniously wrapped around his waist by "The Rock."

The Second Showdown: Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje (UFC 291)

Years passed before the BMF title found its way back into the spotlight, this time with Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje vying for the honor in a much-anticipated rematch. Their first encounter was a battle for the ages, and the sequel did not disappoint. Gaethje's unexpected head kick knockout victory over Poirier not only won him the fight but also saw Masvidal passing on the BMF title, a symbolic gesture of the unyielding spirit these warriors embody.

The Upcoming Clash: Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway (UFC 300)

As UFC 300 approaches, anticipation builds for the clash between Gaethje and Holloway, two of the most admired fighters in the league. With high stakes for both fighters, this battle is not just about the BMF title but also their future in the UFC. Gaethje is fighting to maintain his position as a top lightweight contender, while Holloway eyes a comeback in the featherweight division and a potential shot at history by winning titles in two weight classes.

April 13 promises a confrontation that epitomizes the BMF title's essence: a showcase of heart, skill, and an unbreakable warrior spirit. As Gaethje and Holloway prepare to face off, fans eagerly await a fight that will undoubtedly add another thrilling chapter to the BMF saga.
