- Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres Announces Shocking Flyweight Return in BRAVE CF
Former BRAVE CF Bantamweight Champion Jose “Shorty” Torres has officially announced a major move back to Flyweight after a failed attempt to reclaim his Bantamweight title against longtime rival Nkosi Ndebele. Torres took to Instagram to confirm the switch, boldly stating, “I’ve won and brought to my city three different titles as a professional, and now I think it’s time to go after another one. BRAVE CF Flyweight title, here I come! Let fight camp begin.” Torres has a history in the Flyweight division, where he made a memorable debut by defeating Amir Albazi and later battling to a draw with Sean Santella. His Flyweight journey also saw him notch a win over Blaine O’Driscoll before moving up to 135 pounds, where he eventually claimed the BRAVE CF Bantamweight Championship by dethroning Nkosi Ndebele. Their fierce rivalry ignited one of BRAVE CF’s most thrilling trilogies, spanning three different continents: South America, Asia, and Africa. Despite Torres’s initial victory, Ndebele triumphed in their subsequent two encounters, most recently prevailing in a closely contested decision. With his sights now set on the Flyweight division once again, Torres is preparing to face off against a new wave of formidable competitors. The division is packed with talent, including rising MMA star Muhammad Mokaev, legendary African fighter Luthando Biko, and sambo champions Velimurad Alkhasov and Bidizina Gavashelishvili. Adding to the excitement, South American Flyweight standout Marciano Ferreira also awaits in the division. Torres’s Flyweight return marks a thrilling new chapter as he aims to add yet another title to his decorated resume. Fight fans can expect more news soon as Torres hinted at an impending announcement regarding his next bout. The BRAVE CF Flyweight division just got a whole lot more interesting.

John Lineker, famously known as “Hands of Stone,” has made waves with his explosive Muay Thai performances in ONE Championship, scoring back-to-back knockouts in September and October. Known for his relentless aggression and bone-crushing hooks, the Brazilian powerhouse has found a natural fit in Muay Thai, despite being an MMA star at heart. At ONE Fight Night 25, Lineker delivered another thrilling performance, defeating Alexey Balyko with his signature style. Although Lineker has his sights set on returning to MMA, he’s enjoying his striking-only detour and has already thrown down a challenge to one of the sport's most fearsome fighters—Rodtang Jitmuangnon. The Thai superstar, known for his own aggressive style, would make for an electrifying showdown with Lineker if ONE decides to bring the clash to life. - The Legacy Of WMAC Masters: The Martial Arts Show That Transformed TV
In the years before Cobra Kai ever made a splash on YouTube Red or Netflix, another show was inspiring the world with its depiction of martial arts. Launched in the late 1990s, WMAC Masters quickly became a hot television show that combined entertainment with martial arts competition. It showcased talented martial artists from various disciplines, introducing audiences to the world of combat in a dynamic and engaging way. The legacy of WMAC Masters extends beyond its short run of two seasons; it left a lasting impact on martial arts and popular culture across the world. Revolutionizing Martial Arts Representation Before WMAC Masters , martial arts were often portrayed in a limited manner in films and television. The show provided a more authentic and respectful representation, focusing on the skill, discipline, and dedication of martial artists. By featuring real practitioners demonstrating their abilities in a competitive (albeit choreographed) format, WMAC Masters helped to legitimize martial arts and promote the variety which exists. Diverse Martial Arts Showcase From kung fu and kickboxing to kenpo and various forms of karate, the show highlighted the richness of martial arts traditions from around the globe. This diversity not only educated viewers but also nurtured an appreciation for the unique techniques and philosophies inherent in each discipline. Notable Martial Artists and Their Impact Several prominent martial artists — from Olympic gold medalists to WAKO kickboxing champions — appeared in WMAC Masters , each leaving their mark on pop culture and the martial arts community. Many of the performers who were a part of the show also continued on to be a part of other impact depictions of martial arts and action afterward, such as Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat. The names featured in the show resemble a who's who of martial arts history, with each character’s nickname reflecting the actor’s real-life background or experience. For example, Chris Casamassa plays the Red Dragon, a nod to his father, Louis D. Casamassa, who founded the highly successful Red Dragon Karate Schools. To name just a few of the notable people featured: Willie Johnson Mike Chaturantabut Herb Perez Ho Sung Pak Christine Bannon-Rodrigues Sophia Crawford Lynnette Love Bridgett Riley Michael Bernardo Shannon Lee Inspiring a New Generation WMAC Masters played a crucial role in inspiring a new generation of martial artists. Young viewers were drawn to the charisma and skills of the fighters, motivating many to pursue martial arts training. Perhaps even better, the show's competitive format highlighted the importance of hard work, perseverance, and respect—values that resonate with aspiring martial artists and continue to shape their journeys. The WMAC Masters not only entertained but also educated and inspired countless individuals. As martial arts continues to grow in popularity, the impact of WMAC Masters remains a significant chapter in the history of the martial arts, reminding us of the power of martial arts to unite, empower, and aspire to become worthy of the Dragon Star trophy.
