  • Watch Ailin Pérez Seek Redemption in Paris: Can She Twerk Her Way to Victory at UFC Fight Night?

Ailin Pérez is on a mission to cement her name among the UFC’s elite as she steps into the Octagon this Saturday, September 28, 2024, at UFC Fight Night in Paris. The Argentinian bantamweight, known for her vibrant energy and post-fight celebrations, will face off against Russia’s knockout artist, Darya Zheleznyakova, in what promises to be a thrilling bout. While Pérez is no stranger to the spotlight—both inside and outside the cage—she recently made headlines for trying to teach fellow UFC star Paulo Costa how to twerk. In a viral social media clip, the two are seen sharing a laugh as "Fiona" attempts to show “The Eraser” some dance moves. Although Costa’s dance skills might need some work, Pérez's confidence shines through both in and out of the ring. A Fighter on the Rise Pérez enters UFC Paris riding a three-fight win streak, with her last performances earning her a spot in the Top 15 of the UFC’s bantamweight division. Her impressive run began with a dominant win over Ashlee Evans-Smith, where she tied the UFC women’s record for most takedowns in a fight, scoring ten takedowns—a feat that stands alone in the UFC women's bantamweight history. Following that, Pérez secured back-to-back unanimous decision victories against Lucie Pudilova and Joselyne Edwards, showcasing her grappling prowess and relentless energy. Training out of The Goat Shed in Miami, the 29-year-old fighter has been refining her skills, determined to rise through the ranks and eventually crack into the top 10. Seeking Redemption in Paris Returning to Paris holds special meaning for Pérez. She made her UFC debut in the same city in 2022, stepping up on short notice in a featherweight bout against Stephanie Egger. That fight didn’t go her way, but it opened the door to her UFC career. Now, two years later, she’s looking for redemption in the City of Light. Standing in her way is Darya Zheleznyakova, a boxer-heavy striker with a record packed with knockouts and early finishes. Zheleznyakova, a product of the famed Fernand Lopez gym, secured her first UFC win last year and poses a dangerous threat to Pérez's momentum. But Pérez remains unfazed. “I saw her earlier when we were signing posters,” Pérez shared confidently. “I looked in her eyes, and I didn’t see much confidence there.” Eyes on the Top 10 Pérez is not only focused on Saturday’s fight but also has her sights set on bigger opportunities. Her goal is clear: to break into the top 10 and compete for the title. “I’m always ready to fight anyone,” she says. “If Dana White wants me to fight Holly Holm or Norma Dumont, I’m ready for it. My goal is the belt.” With her unshakable confidence, dynamic personality, and undeniable talent, Ailin Pérez is poised to make a statement at UFC Paris. Will she add another win—and perhaps a signature twerk—to her growing legacy? Don’t miss UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Saint Denis live from Accor Arena in Paris on September 28, 2024. • The French Connection: Nassourdine Imavov's Road to Redemption at UFC Paris 2024

This Saturday, September 28, 2024, Nassourdine Imavov, one of France’s brightest MMA stars, takes on the surging Brendan Allen in the co-main event of UFC Paris at the Accor Arena. As the local hero, Imavov enters the Octagon with immense pressure, carrying the hopes of French fans on his shoulders. The build-up to this fight has been intense, with Imavov determined to reclaim his momentum after recent setbacks. Imavov’s Early UFC Journey: The Rise of a Contender Born in Dagestan but representing France, Nassourdine Imavov burst onto the UFC scene in 2020 with a technical mastery that quickly marked him as a middleweight contender to watch. He made an immediate impact with a debut victory over Jordan Williams at UFC Fight Night 178. Imavov’s ability to mix sharp striking with well-rounded grappling caught the attention of many, earning him praise as a versatile threat in the 185-pound division. His next triumph came in a hard-fought battle against Ian Heinisch at UFC Vegas 32 in 2021, where Imavov showcased his growing skills and relentless determination. The victory over Heinisch was a pivotal moment, propelling him into the radar of the top middleweights. The Breakthrough: Imavov’s Dominant Win Over Edmen Shahbazyan Imavov’s breakout moment came in November 2021 when he dismantled Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC 268, securing a second-round TKO. This victory not only highlighted his striking precision but also his composure against a former top prospect. By finishing Shahbazyan, Imavov cemented his status as a dangerous middleweight capable of climbing the ranks. Facing Adversity: The Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis Fights Imavov’s rapid ascent hit a bump when he stepped in on short notice to face Sean Strickland in January 2023. Despite a valiant effort, Imavov was outpointed in a five-round battle, with Strickland’s pace and volume proving too much. The loss tested Imavov’s resilience, but his willingness to fight a top contender on short notice gained him respect within the UFC community. His next bout against Chris Curtis at UFC 289 was another challenging fight. Imavov found himself in a technical striking war but ultimately came up short, suffering a close decision loss. These back-to-back defeats, though difficult, have added layers to Imavov’s experience and grit. The Road to UFC Paris Now, with UFC Paris on the horizon, Imavov stands at a crossroads. With the support of his home crowd, he seeks redemption and a return to the win column. Facing Brendan Allen, a fighter riding a winning streak and known for his dangerous grappling, Imavov will need to rely on his well-rounded game. Allen’s recent victories over top-tier opponents like André Muniz and Bruno Silva make him a formidable test, but Imavov’s home advantage and desire for redemption could give him the edge. As the co-main event of UFC Paris, this fight holds high stakes for both men. For Imavov, a win would not only rejuvenate his career but also solidify him as a legitimate middleweight threat, especially with the pressure of fighting in front of a passionate French crowd. A loss, however, could push him further away from title contention. Keys to Victory Imavov’s striking will be crucial against Allen, whose grappling is his primary weapon. The French fighter’s ability to manage distance, land sharp counters, and defend takedowns will be key to avoiding Allen’s submission game. Imavov’s cardio and endurance, which have been tested in five-round wars, should also play to his advantage in a three-round co-main event. Fans can expect a dynamic clash of styles, with Allen trying to bring the fight to the ground, while Imavov looks to keep the fight standing and showcase his precision striking. Fighting at Home Fighting in France is a special moment for any athlete, but for Nassourdine Imavov, UFC Paris 2024 could be a career-defining night. With the country still building its reputation in MMA, Imavov has the opportunity to not only make a statement for his own career but also inspire the next generation of French fighters. The energy inside the Accor Arena will be electric, and Imavov will look to harness that energy to deliver a memorable performance. What’s at Stake? For Nassourdine Imavov, the stakes couldn’t be higher. This fight is not just about winning; it’s about proving that he belongs among the elite in the UFC middleweight division. A victory could propel him back into the top rankings and set up future fights against high-caliber opponents. For Allen, a win on enemy soil would further establish his case as a title contender. We’ll find out on Saturday night.

  • Chatri Sityodtong Says Superbon Can Snatch Tawanchai Showdown If He Beats Nattawut At ONE Friday Fights 81

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has revealed that Superbon could, in fact, snatch “Smokin” Jo Nattawut’s title shot if he’s successful in the ONE Friday Fights 81 main event. The Thai pair are set to lock horns in a featherweight Muay Thai bout at the September 27 blockbuster, which goes down at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. While Nattawut is focussed on Superbon for now, the 34-year-old also has a trilogy showdown against ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai booked in for ONE 169: Atlanta on November 8. At the ONE Friday Fights 81 pre-fight press conference, Sityodtong revealed that this weekend’s headliner was created due to concerns over a Tawanchai injury. “We made this fight because Tawanchai was still not in 100 percent shape a month ago, I think he just started training, and we weren't sure if he would be able to compete for ONE 169,” Sityodtong said. “So, that was the thought process of keeping the title contention active, and kudos to Jo [Nattawut] that he accepted the fight. But we were not sure, and we're still not confident that Tawanchai will be ready for Atlanta. I haven't got the latest update, but this was from several weeks ago when we booked the fight for Jo Nattawut and Superbon. At that time, Tawanchai was still recovering from his injuries, so we were not sure.” Nattawut and Tawanchai have fought out a thrilling series to date, with two fights between the pair going right down to the wire. On each occasion, Tawanchai has been declared the winner on the razor-close scorecards. Superbon, for his part, also narrowly came up short against the featherweight Muay Thai king this past April. At the pre-fight presser, Sityodtong revealed that Superbon will likely become the number one contender to the featherweight Muay Thai crown if the 33-year-old prevails this Friday. “Again, I was not talking to them. I mean, my team was telling me all this. I haven't talked to Tawanchai. So I don't know exactly what's going on right now, but for now, yeah, I think the winner will take on Tawanchai. I think that's natural,” he said. Watch ONE Friday Fights 81 live on Friday, September 27, on watch.onefc.com at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT

  • John Lineker To Fight Alexey Balyko In Muay Thai At ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas Vs. Eersel

Former ONE Bantameight MMA World Champion John Lineker is set to continue his odyssey in the sport of Muay Thai at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II . After making a successful debut in “the art of eight limbs” earlier this month, “Hands of Stone” has drawn Alexey Balyko for his next assignment on October 4. This time, it’ll be at the sport’s mecca, the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Lineker crushed long-time Muay Thai standout Asa Ten Pow in his first striking-only battle at ONE 168: Denver . In typical fashion, the Brazilian’s heavy hands were the difference maker as he simply overwhelmed his American foe inside two rounds. It’s been an interesting year for Lineker. In January, the 34-year-old stepped in on short notice for an openweight MMA fight against former ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion Shinya Aoki, a fight that he lost by submission. Prior to that, he had reeled off wins over divisional contenders Stephen Loman and Kim Jae Woong in his native bantamweight MMA division. Balyko looms as another tough test of Lineker’s striking credentials. The Russian has won three of his four fights under the ONE banner, including a pair of knockouts over Suakim Sor Jor Tongprajin and Stefan Korodi. Like Lineker, the 31-year-old has sharp boxing and genuine knockout power, setting the scene for a pulsating battle between the duo. ONE Fight Night 25 is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion Alexis Nicolas and the man he dethroned this past April, long-time former divisional king and current lightweight Muay Thai divisional ruler, Regian Eersel.

  • William Gomis’ Homecoming: The Featherweight Ready to Dazzle at UFC Paris Against Joanderson Brito

William Gomis, the Parisian featherweight sensation, is set to make his mark on the global stage once again as he faces Joanderson Brito at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Saint Denis this Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Accor Arena in Paris, France. For Gomis, fighting in his hometown brings a wave of emotion and pride, as MMA was only legalized in France in 2020. Just a few short years ago, the idea of competing in the UFC on home soil seemed like a pipe dream, but now, Gomis is one of the rising stars of French MMA. In his third consecutive UFC fight in Paris, Gomis will look to continue his winning streak, which stands at an impressive 11 straight victories. His journey, filled with adversity, is a testament to his resilience and determination. Speaking ahead of his upcoming bout with Brito, Gomis reflected on the significance of fighting in his hometown: “For French people, it’s amazing. We were waiting years to have MMA in France, and now we have UFC in Paris, so it’s exciting to be there again.” Gomis’ path to UFC success wasn’t an easy one. After making his debut on the same night Ciryl Gane headlined the first UFC event in Paris in 2022, Gomis earned a majority decision victory over Jarno Errens. He followed up that performance in 2023 with a show-stopping third-round stoppage of Yanis Ghemmouri. Now, with UFC Paris 2024 on the horizon, Gomis is ready to steal the show again. After a tough year dealing with injury and a canceled fight in Brazil earlier this year, Gomis is hungrier than ever. He views this weekend’s fight against the dangerous Brito as a pivotal moment in his career. Brito has earned five consecutive stoppage wins, but Gomis is confident: “I know he’s strong, punches hard, but he’s not smart. It’s gonna be very good for me because I am strong and I am smart.” Gomis believes this fight is his time to shine, a coming-out party for the rest of the world to see what Paris has known all along—that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the featherweight division. With the hometown crowd behind him, Gomis is aiming to secure his third straight win on French soil, which he says would feel “like if I have a baby!” Don’t miss William Gomis’ electrifying performance at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Saint Denis. The prelims begin at 12pm ET/9am PT, with the main card airing live on ESPN+ at 3pm ET/12pm PT. Get ready for an unforgettable night of fights!

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, UFC Fight Night at the Accor Arena in Paris will feature a highly anticipated Middleweight co-main event between Brendan Allen vs Nassourdine Imavov. Both fighters have been making waves in the division, and this fight could shape the landscape of the Middleweight rankings moving forward. With Allen on an impressive run and Imavov looking to defend home soil, this bout has all the makings of a barnburner. The Fighters: A Breakdown Brendan Allen (22-5-0) Brendan "All In" Allen has solidified himself as one of the UFC’s rising Middleweight contenders. Known for his exceptional grappling and submission game, Allen enters this bout riding a four-fight win streak, including victories over notable names such as André Muniz and Bruno Silva. His relentless ground attacks and underrated striking make him a well-rounded threat in the octagon. Allen has shown that he’s not afraid to engage in any area of the fight, making him a dangerous puzzle for any opponent. Nassourdine Imavov (12-5-0) Fighting out of Paris, Nassourdine "Russian Sniper" Imavov is the hometown favorite for UFC Fight Night. The Dagestan-born French fighter brings a diverse skill set, blending precise striking with a solid grappling base. Imavov’s highlight reel includes wins over fighters like Joaquin Buckley and Ian Heinisch, showcasing his technical prowess and ability to finish fights. However, Imavov is coming off a loss to Sean Strickland, and this fight presents a crucial opportunity for redemption in front of a supportive Parisian crowd. High Points of the Matchup Clash of Styles : Allen’s grappling-heavy approach versus Imavov’s striking precision sets up a classic clash of styles. If the fight hits the ground, Allen will look to exploit his superior jiu-jitsu, but Imavov has the striking tools to keep the fight standing and test Allen’s chin. Home Advantage for Imavov : Fighting in front of his home crowd could be a huge boost for Imavov, especially considering the atmosphere that Paris has provided for previous UFC events. The crowd’s energy might inspire Imavov to put on a career-defining performance. Allen’s Surge Toward Contention : Allen’s current win streak has him knocking on the door of title contention. A victory over Imavov, especially in enemy territory, could catapult him further up the Middleweight rankings and place him among the division’s elite. Imavov’s Redemption : After a tough loss to Strickland, Imavov is looking to get back on track. A win against Allen would put him back in the conversation for top contenders, giving him the momentum he needs to make another run at the division’s best. Predictions for the Fight This fight is incredibly well-matched, and predicting a clear winner is no easy task. Brendan Allen’s ability to mix in takedowns and submissions makes him a constant threat throughout the fight, but Nassourdine Imavov’s striking could pose serious problems for Allen if he can keep the fight standing. Path to Victory for Brendan Allen: Allen needs to close the distance quickly, avoid extended striking exchanges, and rely on his grappling to control the pace. If Allen can get Imavov to the ground, he will likely dominate with ground-and-pound or search for a submission finish. Path to Victory for Nassourdine Imavov: Imavov will need to utilize his reach, stay on the outside, and pick Allen apart with crisp combinations. If Imavov can defend the takedown attempts and keep the fight standing, his striking could lead him to a decision or knockout win. This Middleweight clash promises fireworks, with both Brendan Allen and Nassourdine Imavov looking to prove themselves as top contenders in the division. The stakes are high, and the fight is even more compelling given the hometown advantage for Imavov and Allen’s momentum.
