Before the Fame?! The First Time Chuck Norris Appeared in Black Belt Magazine


Before the movies and before the legend, there was just a 1st dan Tang Soo Do Black Belt named Carlos.


This dashing first-degree Black Belt was none other than Chuck Norris. This photo and credit mark the first-ever mention and appearance of Chuck Norris in Black Belt Magazine—his official introduction to the martial arts world.

The article was a feature on Tang Soo Do and referred to him by his legal name at the time: Carlos Norris of March Air Force Base, Riverside, CA.
