The September 1980 cover of Black Belt featured Kajukenbo Grandmaster George Iversen, founder of the Hawaiian Kajukenbo Association.

With over thirty-five years of experience as both a student and teacher, he developed one of the most effective methods for passing on the greatest lessons in martial arts — lessons he learned from legendary masters such as Adriano Emperado, Sid Asuncion, James Mitose, William Chow, Henry Okazaki, and Bing Fai Lau.

Three martial artists in white uniforms perform high kicks on a magazine cover titled "Karate Illustrated," featuring bold red and pink text.
