In Hyuk Suh, the founder of Kuk Sool Won, graced the November 1983 cover of Black Belt magazine, but his story began long before that. Drawing on martial knowledge passed down from his grandfather—an instructor to Korea’s royal guard—he built Kuk Sool Won into a complete system blending strikes, throws, locks, weapons, and tradition.

From South Korea to the United States and now to hundreds of schools worldwide, his legacy remains a living history of Korean martial arts.
