ONE 165 Showdown: Superlek Kiatmoo9 Steps in for Injured Rodtang to Defend Flyweight Gold Against Takeru in Tokyo

Takeru Segawa vs. Rodtang Jitmuangnon will have to wait for another day. The Thai star withdrew from his ONE 165 Tokyo main event clash citing injury, but that doesn’t mean the main event takes a step backward.

In his place, ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 will move into the role and put his gold on the line against the Japanese superstar in Tokyo, Japan, at the Ariake Arena on Sunday, January 28.

ONE Chairman and CEO made the announcement on social media early on Friday.

The new main event will set the stage for a massive year in the flyweight division.

The winner will take the helm of the talent-rich division. A trove of incredible contenders will await whoever walks out of Tokyo with the 26 pounds of gold over their shoulder.

The super-fight between Takeru and Rodtang still looms in the distance no matter the result. The same can be said for Superlek, who edged Rodtang in their Muay Thai clash last September.

The triangle atop the card is set for a jaw-dropping 2024 schedule, but the remainder of the top-five contenders are all itching for their shots as well.

Superlek vs. Takeru is everything fans could want and more. The best kickboxers on the planet will throw down on January 28 to decide who is the proper king to start the new year.

ONE 165 Tokyo: Superlek vs. Takeru takes place live on Sunday, January 28, live from the Ariake Arena on Tokyo, Japan.
