ONE Fight Night 23: Ok vs. Rasulov hit Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Friday, July 5, with a fun night of martial arts action. ONE Championship’s U.S. primetime return saw ten bouts across three sports thrill the audience.
Alibeg Rasulov missed hydration and was unable to claim the ONE Interim Lightweight MMA World Title. Still, the Russian used the main event opportunity to send a message to Christian Lee. The Hyperion Fighters star took a hard-fought decision to become an instant title challenger in his ONE debut.
In the co-main event, Nico Carrillo cemented his status as bantamweight Muay Thai’s top contender. Although the Scotsman will wait for the winner of Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver, he staked his claim as the next man in line. “The King of the North’s” destruction of Saemapetch Fairtex was impressive and made Carrillo seem like an unstoppable force.
Black Panther picked up his third consecutive victory with a second-round knockout against Ali Saldoev. The Thai star has now firmly pushed himself into the rankings discussion. While the division is loaded with talent, Black Panther’s string of wins are hard to deny.
“Reug Reug” Oumar Kane took care of Senegalese rival Boucher Ketchup with a first-round knockout. Ketchup tried being aggressive early, but the difference in skill was immediately evident. Kane now sets his sights on Anatoly Malykhin and the ONE Heavyweight MMA World Title at ONE 169: Atlanta in November.
Alexey Balyko’s left hand was filled with dynamite in the opening match of the card. Balyko dropped Korodi before ultimately finishing with another crushing left hook. The stiff KO blow delivered a cracking start to the event.
