ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut met expectations when the world’s largest martial arts organization took over the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, 27 September for a star-studded episode of the series. Here are the results of ONE Friday Fights 81.
In the main event, ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon made quick work of #2-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Jo Nattawut in less than two minutes of their divisional Muay Thai contest.
Superbon resumed to action in stoic fashion as he was quick to land his typical high kicks and punches. Nattawut came forward very aggressively, but it didn’t serve him as well as he’d hoped.
The Atlanta, Georgia, resident stepped inside the former king’s pocket and was met by a barrage of strikes – one of which being a sneaky right elbow that sliced him open. Then, Superbon landed another precise elbow of the same kind to put his compatriot down for good at just 1:43 of round one.
In the co-main event, Kiamran Nabati extended his winning streak to 22-0 as he defeated former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama across three rounds of frantic action.
The Russian pressured Nong-O from the first bell, looking to make a statement. But the Thai great’s IQ allowed him to fend off some of Nabati’s offense. That said, Nabati’s handiwork allowed him to gain an edge after three minutes.
With the feeling process behind them, Nabati got back on the front foot in round two to close the distance. Nong-O began to drive his vintage kicks into the unbeaten Russian’s torso, but Nabati continued to find success with his counter punches.
Across the final three minutes, Nabati was weary of Nong-O’s late surge. Preventing any drama, he kept the Thai legend pressed against the ropes before dishing out more punishment en route to the unanimous decision victory.
