ONE Championship will bring back the star-studded ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix in 2024. The organization teased the tournament via social media, but a date for the opening round has yet to be revealed.
The featherweight kickboxing division may be the deepest and most competitive division in all combat sports.
In the last ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix, Chingiz Allazov stormed through the ranks as a dark horse to win the tournament and then went on to dethrone Superbon for the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship.
The tournament not only propelled him to become a World Champion but also set him up to be considered the current pound-for-pound best kickboxer on the planet. The upcoming tournament could have the same result for the victor who gets his hand raised in the end.
Who could compete in the 2024 edition of the tournament?
The graphic shared across social media featured Masaaki Noiri, Superbon, Petrosyan, and Allazov. Other pound-for-pound greats like Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Tawanchai PK Saenchai, and Marat Grigorian are likely contenders to join the field.
Should all those athletes compete in the tournament, the 2024 edition of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix could be the most decorated tournament in kickboxing history.
