On Wednesday, ONE Championship officially announced its 2023 debut in Qatar. ONE 166: Qatar will go down on Friday, March 1, and be loaded with five World Championship matchups.
Along with official presenting partner Qatar Tourism, official media partner Media City Qatar, and official partner Ooredoo, ONE 166 will emanate from Lusail Sports Arena.
No official matchups were released but title tilts were promised across kickboxing, mixed martial arts, muay thai and submission grappling. ONE 166 will feature the full scope of martial arts when the company makes landfall in a major way.
"I'm thrilled to announce ONE Championship's return to the Middle East with one of our biggest events ever. We're building a spectacular card that os stacked from top to bottom, which will feature World Championship fights across all our martial arts disciplines", ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said in the Press Release.
"We can't wait to put on a show for the greatest fans on earth and would like to thank Qatar Tourism, Media City Qatar and Ooredoo for teaming with us to make history." - he added.
The numbered events are the flagship product of ONE and feature the sport's biggest names. Fans should expect the card to become one of 2024's premier events when the incredible line up begins to be released in the coming weeks.
ONE 166: Qatar will be broadcast on beIN Sports in the Middle East begining at 3:30 PM AST. Details for the global broadcast will be made available at a later date.
