The first event of 2024 is in the books for ONE Championship. On Friday, January 12, ONE Friday Fights 47 kicked off the year for the martial arts juggernaut.
In the main event, Alexey Balyko put it on Suakim Sor Jor Thongprajin for a third-round knockout.
Balyko started strong and even dropped Suakim in the second frame. However, adversity would rear its head when Suakim got a knockdown of his own before the round ended. In the third round, Balyko came out looking for the finish to leave no doubt.
Just 22 seconds into the final round, he scored the KO blow. A left hook connected, and the Thai athlete dropped to the canvas.
Kompet Fairtex never gave Daren Rolland a moment to rest in their co-main event battle. The Thai star pressured Rolland immediately with leg kicks and punching combinations. In the second round, he got a knockdown to extend his lead.
Although he was on his way to a decision win, Kompet kept up his pace and eventually finished Rolland before the final bell in the third round.
As is customary with the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium events, finishes were aplenty throughout the card.
Five additional KO/TKO finishes happened, including a 55-second KO performance from Khunsuk Sor Dechapan against Nueaphet Kelasport.
Ferrari Fairtex got his winning streak going with a three-round decision victory over Antar Kacem. The Thai star has now won three straight on the global stage and is gaining his momentum back after a rough start in the promotion.
In MMA action, Coopar Royal started the evening with an armbar win against Ilimbek Akylbek Uulu, which showed his resilience after being manhandled by Komronbek Ortikov for the better part of three rounds.
Royal’s cardio allowed him to seize the day when the Uzbek grappler tired in the third round.
With ONE Fight Night 18 completing the double-header, ONE got off to a strong start in the new year with another exciting event.
